INFJ-INTJ: The Dark Horse of Ideal INFJ Relationships
These uncommon jewels of the personality spectrum make up less than one percent of the population. This is not surprising considering how few of them there are. This led me to do some research on these unique little snowflake personalities. What I discovered was both fascinating and inspiring. Who knows, you might just be one of them. They are known for being great verbal communicators. To most friends and acquaintances, the INFJ type seems very sociable and extroverted. This can cause confusion when INFJs become overwhelmed and must withdraw from people. In truth, INFJs are just like other introverts in the sense that they are very selective with whom they consider real friends.
6 Reasons Why ENFP and INFJ Fall In Love
Dating for the INFJ can be especially challenging. Not because they are tough to get along with. INFJs have arguably the greatest capacity of all the types for depth, love, soulfulness, empathy, and have a strong desire to share their rich inner lives with their significant other.
INFP vs INFJ: These two personality types can be difficult to tell apart. This personality type showdown outlines 5 surprising differences.
I have touched upon the seemingly contradictory, all or nothing nature of INFJ in a couple of other posts 8 life and work issues of an INFJ and 10 contradictory traits of the elusive INFJ male… and the general consensus seems to be that many of us are wired this way — we do things passionately or not at all, rarely traversing the middle ground and instead alternate between polar opposites. The fact is, whether perceived as good or evil, both factions can be seen to be behaving passionately however misguided it may seem to us , for a cause that they believe is good, true and just.
One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. INFJs love to go deep innuendo intended of course and a consequence of this means we venture to depths that rarely see the light of day, depths that are held back due to societal ideals and depths we are aware of but choose to hold back. This is pretty much me administering mental karma to imaginary bullies Yes, I do realise how ridiculous that sounds … This to me typifies the INFJs often calm, non-emotional resting bitch face?
We may look meek, vacant, uninterested, even dim at times… but believe me, nothing could be further from the truth. I guess because whatever happens to me I feel is a direct consequence of my own choices, so any resulting outcome that may seem unjust to others, to me feels more like a lesson to be learnt. When we must deal with problems, we instinctively resist trying the way that leads through obscurity and darkness. We wish to hear only of unequivocal results, and completely forget that these results can only be brought about when we have ventured into and emerged again from the darkness.
But to penetrate the darkness we must summon all the powers of enlightenment that consciousness can offer.
This particular Myers-Briggs personality type is defined as being introverted, intuitive, feeling, and judging. INFJ is a rare but intriguing personality to come across and even more unusual to find in the male gender. In fact, it is estimated that only about one to three percent of the population exhibits INFJ.
Every time I teach a course on a specific personality type, I learn things that blow me away. I learned INTP women look nothing like INTP men. I learned F’s sometimes misidentify themselves as T’s but T’s never mistake themselves for.
This Myers-Briggs personality is defined as primarily being introverted, intuitive, feeling, and perceiving, although this description really only scratches the surface of this character. An estimated four to five percent of the population has the INFP personality. Although there is a fairly balanced ratio of males and females with this character, it does seem that this persona appears slightly more often in males.
When a conflict does arise, this persona may have a profound emotional reaction. They often go by their feelings rather than what science, facts, or logic suggests. Most individuals with this type of personality do not really care if their opinion is right, they simply care about how a situation or a person makes them feel. That is not to say that these individuals cannot be logical — they can, quite successfully, with self-training and abstract thought practices. INFPs make great listeners and because they are usually non-judgmental they are often sought out by friends who need to vent.
This sort of individual may look for hidden meanings in the actions and words of others and may even go so far as to imagine a meaning where none lies. This is simply a result of the dreamer aspect of this personality shining through. INFPs tend to be perfectionists and often strive to reach personal ideals that can be exhausting or even impossible to obtain.

You have two weeks to do this. They will have none of these problems. The ENTJs are solely focused on earning money. They have plans, they know their limits, they are realistic but always thinking big. And I am the only type that makes a good CEO. In the ENTJ course like in every course I talked about how life becomes more interesting if you understand yourself better and when you understand how people around you react to you and why. So I focused on career questions, and all the ENTJs wanted to know if they were on track to meet their goals and how to get more people to help them meet their goals.
The sessions sometimes felt like human resource bootcamp. I started thinking about how the intense conflict of work and life is what makes careers interesting, and then I missed the constantly tormented ENFJs torn between work and family. Melissa runs a recruiting agency.
INFP vs INFJ: 5 Surprising Differences To Tell Them Apart
And while they may look similar from the outside, they are very different creatures inside. Add to that, INFJs and INFPs are two of the personality types most interested in personality psychology, so an incomplete understanding of how these two types are differentiated can cause a lot of personal frustration not to mention internet arguments! There is a saying that the more personal something is the more universal it is. They are simply more aware of them than other types. For many INFPs it may be surprising to learn that they lead with a decision-making process, since decisions can be grueling for this type.
via GIPHY. Out of 16 different personality types, INFJs make the rarest combination of people to exist, which means we are often misunderstood and dating can be a real pain in the a-hole.
Strongly humanitarian in outlook, INFJs tend to be idealists, and because of their J preference for closure and completion, they are generally “doers” as well as dreamers. This rare combination of vision and practicality often results in INFJs taking a disproportionate amount of responsibility in the various causes to which so many of them seem to be drawn. INFJs are deeply concerned about their relations with individuals as well as the state of humanity at large.
They are, in fact, sometimes mistaken for extroverts because they appear so outgoing and are so genuinely interested in people — a product of the Feeling function they most readily show to the world. On the contrary, INFJs are true introverts, who can only be emotionally intimate and fulfilled with a chosen few from among their long-term friends, family, or obvious “soul mates. This apparent paradox is a necessary escape valve for them, providing both time to rebuild their depleted resources and a filter to prevent the emotional overload to which they are so susceptible as inherent “givers.
Due in part to the unique perspective produced by this alternation between detachment and involvement in the lives of the people around them, INFJs may well have the clearest insights of all the types into the motivations of others, for good and for evil. The most important contributing factor to this uncanny gift, however, are the empathic abilities often found in Fs, which seem to be especially heightened in the INFJ type possibly by the dominance of the introverted N function. This empathy can serve as a classic example of the two-edged nature of certain INFJ talents, as it can be strong enough to cause discomfort or pain in negative or stressful situations.
More explicit inner conflicts are also not uncommon in INFJs; it is possible to speculate that the causes for some of these may lie in the specific combinations of preferences which define this complex type. For instance, there can sometimes be a “tug-of-war” between NF vision and idealism and the J practicality that urges compromise for the sake of achieving the highest priority goals.
And the I and J combination, while perhaps enhancing self-awareness, may make it difficult for INFJs to articulate their deepest and most convoluted feelings. Usually self-expression comes more easily to INFJs on paper, as they tend to have strong writing skills.

Overcoming INFJ loneliness is not easy. No other feeling causes so much anxiety and sadness. What separates loneliness from other roadblocks on the INFJ path is that it can show its face anytime and anywhere. Why is overcoming loneliness hard for INFJs? Have you ever found yourself surrounded by people, listening the sound of small talk, and feeling judgmental eyes looking straight at you? I know I have plenty of times.
The source of my loneliness comes from the knowledge that people I hold dear live thousands of miles away. Also, my full potential will only be fulfilled when I reach my dream and leave my current location. It will happen, but until then, loneliness and me are stuck with each other. Overcoming INFJ loneliness is hard because we often feel misunderstood.
It feels lonely when INFJs constantly need to explain why solitude is important, why we feel lonely in a crowd, or why we need peace and quiet. The best strategy to conquer INFJ loneliness A review by researchers at the University of Chicago found that targeting negative thought processes is the key to conquering loneliness. If you want to conquer loneliness you need to shake off the doubt and self-criticism.
